Der “Record Store Day” wurde im Jahre 2007 ins Leben gerufen und soll die Konsumenten daran erinnern, dass es in jeder Stadt unabhängige Plattenläden gibt, in denen man ausgefallene Musik unbekannter Künstler finden kann. Gleichzeitig will dieser Aktionstag davor warnen, dass die kleinen Läden bald aussterben werden.

Am 19. April 2014 laden die unabhängigen Plattenläden in den Vereinigten Staaten zum „Record Store Day 2014“ ein. Bruce Springsteen unterstützt die Händler mit einer nagelneuen EP. Der „Boss“ wird vier unbekannte Songs auf einer 12-Inch Vinyl EP veröffentlichen:

Ausserdem wird am 25. März 2014 die Live-DVD/BluRay „A MusiCares Tribute To Bruce Springsteen“ erscheinen. Auf der DVD bzw. BluRay findet man das MusiCares Person of the Year Konzert vom 8. Februar 2013 im „Convention Center“, Los Angeles, CA (wir berichteten hier).

Bruce Springsteen’s MusiCares® Tribute Video Out March 25th; Record Store Day EP Coming April 26th

The 2013 MusiCares® Person of the Year concert film honoring Bruce Springsteen will be released March 25th on DVD, Blu-ray and via digital download. The sold-out event, which was hosted by Jon Stewart, recognized Springsteen’s extraordinary creative accomplishments as well as his significant charitable work and featured performances by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in addition to more than a dozen performances of Springsteen’s work by other artists. Columbia Records is proud, through this project, to provide essential support to MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.
Then, on April 26th, Bruce Springsteen will release ‘American Beauty,’ a special Record Store Day 12″ vinyl EP from Columbia Records. The EP features four previously unreleased original songs that were considered for the ‘High Hopes’ album that debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 last month.
