Der aus Whitestone im New Yorker Stadtteil Queens stammende Musiker Jesse Malin, wird am 3. April 2015 sein sechstes Studioalbum “New York Before the War” veröffentlicht.

2007 wurde er mit dem Longplayer “Glitter in the Gutter” und dem Bruce Springsteen Duett “Broken Radio” weltbekannt (wir berichteten hier).

Der New Yorker Songwriter Jesse Malin, der schon mit Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams oder Gogol Bordello zusammengearbeitet hat, meldet sich nach fünf Jahren mit seinem neuen Album „New York Before The War“ zurück.
Das Album bewegt sich durch dunklere Meditationen („She’s So Dangerous“ und „Bar Life“ feat. Craig Finn), über Upbeat-Rockstücke wie „Freeway“ feat. Wayne Kramer (MC5) und „Turn Up the Mains“ (mit Alejandro Escovedo/Backing Vocals). Spätestens wenn man hört, welche tolle Gitarrenparts Peter Buck von R.E.M. im Stück ‚I Would Do It For You‘ beigesteuert hat, weiß man, wie gut dieses Album wirklich ist!
Die Album Sessions fanden im ländlichen Virginia statt, um aus den 40 aufgenommen Songs in N.Y. Soho ein Konzeptalbum zu finalisieren. Dabei waren der Gitarrist Derek Cruz, die Bassistin Catherine Popper (Jack White, Ryan Adams), Drummer Randy Schrager (Scissor Sisters) und Paul Garisto (Psychedelic Furs). Don Dilego produzierte die frühen Sessions in Virginia, Malin und Cruz haben den Songs den letzten Schliff in New York gegeben. Brian Thorn, der an David Bowies „The Next Day“ beteiligt war, hat das Album abgemischt.

Cargo Records veröffentlicht im Mai 2015 die legendäre Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Show aus dem ROXY in Los Angeles, CA vom 17. Oktober 1975.

Im Oktober 1975 wurde der „Boss“ für sechs Shows im THE ROXY gebucht. Die „Early Show“ vom 17. Oktober 1975 wurde Live vom Radiosender KWEST-FM übertragen.

Bruce Springsteen AKA The Boss was a singer songwriter signed to Columbia records in the early seventies. Having recorded two critically well received albums (Greetings From Asbury Park and The Wild the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle) he broke through commercially worldwide with the album Born To Run which was released on the 25th August 1975. Whilst the album broke Bruce his relationship with his manager had soured to the extent that he was subsequently embroiled in litigation for two years and unable to record for over twelve months. This gave Bruce and the band the opportunity to hone their craft by playing extensively across the USA and also a well-documented appearance in the UK. This recording is the complete performance from a stint at The Roxy in Los Angeles in October 1975.
The set was broadcast on radio and is considered to be one of the great live performances featuring songs from the recently released Born To Run album and also key songs from his previous two albums alongside some covers which he made his own in new arrangements. This album contains a radio performance of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band from The Roxy Los Angeles. Includes complete Performance from the early Show at The Roxy. Der Record Store Day findet alljährlich am dritten Samstag im April statt.

Initiatoren des Record Store Days waren Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave und Brian Poehner, die im April 2007 die Idee hatten, Indie-Plattenläden in den Vereinigten Staaten zu unterstützen.

Mittlerweile ist aus dieser Idee ein internationales Event geworden. Viele Bands und Musiker unterstützen diese Kampagne und stellen Plattenläden hochwertige und seltene Musikveröffentlichungen zur Verfügung.

Unabhängige Plattenläden sind für viele Menschen ein wichtiger Teil ihrer musikalischen Sozialisation. Neben Konzertbesuchen und dem privaten Austausch mit Freunden, sind Plattenläden der Ort für musikalische Inspiration und die Entdeckung neuer Bands. Nur in diesen Läden gibt es persönliche Beratung durch wahre Kenner der Materie.

Heute vor 16 Jahren wurde Bruce Springsteen in die „Rock and Roll Hall of Fame“ aufgenommen.

Die „Rock and Roll Hall of Fame“ befindet sich in Cleveland, OH und nimmt jedes Jahr einflussreiche Musiker auf, die sich um den Rock’n Roll verdient gemacht haben.

Seit 1986 kommt jedes Jahr ein Komitee von Musikhistorikern zusammen, um über die Aufnahme von Künstlern zu beraten. Bisher kam diese Ehre unter anderem Chuck Berry, James Brown, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, Tina Turner, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, Van Morrison, The Band, Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Santana, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Queen, Aerosmith, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Ramones, AC/DC, Talking Heads, The Police, Prince, Bob Seger, U2, REM, Patti Smith, Madonna, Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, ABBA, Genesis, The Hollies, Neil Diamond, Darlene Love, Tom Waits, Guns N‘ Roses, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel und Lou Reed zuteil.

Am 15. März 1999 durfte U2 Frontman Bono die Einführungsrede für Bruce Springsteen halten:

„Rock stars are supposed to make soap operas of their lives, aren’t they? If they don’t kill themselves first. Well, you can’t be a big legend and not be dysfunctional. It’s not allowed.
„Then there’s Bruce Springsteen. Handsome mother with those brooding brown eyes, eyes that could see through America. And a catastrophe of great songs, if you were another songwriter. Bruce has played every bar in the U.S.A., and every stadium. Credibility — you couldn’t have more, unless you were dead. But Bruce Springsteen, you always knew, was not gonna die stupid. He didn’t buy the mythology that screwed so many people. Instead he created an alternative mythology, one where ordinary lives became extraordinary and heroic. Bruce Springsteen, you were familiar to us. But it’s not an easy familiarity, is it? Even his band seems to stand taller when he walks in the room. It’s complex. He’s America’s writer, and critic. It’s like in ‚Badlands,‘ he’s Martin Sheen and Terrence Malick. To be so accessible and so private … But then again, he is an Irish-Italian, with a Jewish-sounding name. What more do you want? 2014 wurden allen Mitgliedern der E Street Band der „Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Award for Musical Excellence“ verliehen (wir berichteten hier).

Bruce Springsteen lernte Elliott Murphy in den frühen 1970er Jahren in New York kennen und schätzen.

Der „Boss“ erklärte sich im Jahre 1976 spontan bereit, beim vierten Elliott Murphy Studioalbum „Just a Story from America“ mitzuarbeiten. Ausserdem ist Bruce Springsteens Gitarrenspiel auch auf „Selling The Gold“ (1996) zu hören.

Seit Anfang der 1990er Jahre ist Elliott Murphy ein gern gesehener Gast bei diversen Bruce Springsteen Konzerten. Bisher begrüsste Springsteen den aus New York City stammenden Künstler sechszehn Mal auf der Bühne.

Unter anderem trat Elliott Murphy bei drei Shows der „Wrecking Ball World Tour 2012/2013“ im „Stadio Nereo Rocco“ in Triest (Italien), in der „Friends Arena“ in Solna (Schweden) und im „Stade de France“ in Paris auf.

Am 10. April 2015 erscheint das neue Elliott Murphy Studioalbum „Aquashow Deconstructed“. Vor mittlerweile 42 Jahren veröffentlichte Elliott Murphy sein Debütalbum „Aquashow“ und wurde von den Kritikern in den Himmel gelobt. Nun hat der 66jährige Künstler alle Kompositionen mit modernem Aufnahme Equipment neu eingespielt.
