Die Presse schreibt:
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band opened strong, with “Badlands,” a high-energy song that fell into the hopeful-message category. More than a few of the others tipped toward economic hardship, including “Johnny 99″ and “The Ghost of Tom Joad,” neither of which was on the set list in Hartford in 2007 or 2008.
Nils Lofgren played a bluesy guitar lick to anchor the former, written in 1982 during an earlier hard-luck period, and the band blew through a succession of quick solos from violinist Suzie Tyrell, pianist Roy Bittan and Lofgren, before guitarist Little Steven Van Zandt took over on a coda at the end. (The song was one of several to feature drummer Max Weinberg’s son, Jay, who is 18. (The kid can play.) … weiterlesen

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played a song they have never performed before, The Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated” on Wednesday night at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.
Bruce has been playing “stump the band” lately with fan sign requests, as he played ZZ Top’s “I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide” on Tuesday. Last night he tried The Ramones’ song which was a sign request by a fan.
The second night in Boston was quite the show, with local favorites The Dropkick Murphys, dropping in for the encores, playing on “American Land.” … weiterlesen

- Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band don’t have to play for two hours and 40 minutes. Nor, when they play, is it a requirement that Springsteen fall to his knees, shimmy and shake, attack his guitar like he’s still discovering new sounds it can make, or take audience requests that he and his band don’t know how to play.
Last night at the TD Banknorth Garden, in the first of two sold-out shows, Springsteen and his band mates did all of that and more, making clear that, nearly 40 years on, they may not have to do these things but they still need to … weiterlesen
- Only one tour premiere, “I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide,” a ZZ Top song.
Bruce had performed the song only once before at a regular E Street Band show, on Sept. 15, 1984 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.
He did play it an handful of times at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park in 1984 and 1987 (thank you to FFDan from the Backstreets internet board for that information).
Bruce dedicated “Kingdom of Days” to his wife Patti Scilafa, who he said bruised her ribs after falling off a horse this past week and was unable to be at the show … weiterlesen

Das englische UNCUT-Magazin hat mal wieder Bruce Springsteen als Coverstory, verfasst von Miami Steve van Zandt. Ausserdem gibts als kleines Schmankerl eine kostenlose CD: “GREETINGS FROM THE BOSS
15 tracks handpicked by Springsteen as his ‘walk-in’ music for live shows”.
Infos:
This month’s cover story celebrates one of rock’s most enduring friendships as Miami Steve Van Zandt takes a break from rehearsals for the E Street Band’s 2009 world tour to talk to Uncut about the 40 years he has known Bruce Springsteen, the two of them growing up not far from each other in New Jersey, hearts thumping to the rock’n’roll to which they would soon dedicate the rest of their lives.
Anyone growing up anywhere at the same time as them will doubtless be stirred by Van Zandt’s passionate evocation of the thrill merely of turning on the radio in those heady days when every new record you heard was more than likely to leave you breathless with an uncommon excitement, the sense of the world changing around you a tangible thing, the coming as if from nowhere of so much great music …weiterlesen

In his divorce complaint, Arthur Kelly said his wife “has committed adultery with one Bruce Springsteen, who resides in Rumson, N.J., and Colts Neck, N.J., at various times and places too numerous to mention.”
Das Bruce Springsteen Management hat diese Vorwürfe zurückgewiesen:
Springsteen’s media representative said the Jersey native stands by a statement he issued on his website in 2006 expressing his commitment to his wife and E- Street Band member Patti Scialfa, with whom he has three children.
The statement read in part, “However, due to the unfounded and ugly rumors that have ap peared in the papers over the last few days, I felt they shouldn’t pass without comment. Patti and I have been together for 18 years — the best 18 years of my life. We have built a beautiful family we love and want to protect and our commit ment to one another remains as strong as the day we were married.”
