billboard.biz veröffentlichte heute einen lesenswerten Artikel und stellte fest, dass Bruce Springsteen die moderne Countrymusic nachhaltig beeinflusst hat. Unter anderem wird auf Erich Chruch verwiesen, der mit seiner Single “Springsteen” (aus dem Album “Chief”) aktuell auf Platz 8 der Billboard Countrycharts steht (wir berichteten hier).

Ferner ist zu lesen, dass sich Musiker wie Rodney Atkins, Pat Green oder Kip Moore auf Springsteen beziehen und in ihren Songs die Schicksale hart arbeitender Menschen verarbeiten. Darüber hinaus hat Kenny Chesney mit “One Step Up” (aus dem Album “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” – 2002) und “I’m on Fire” zwei Springsteen Songs gecovert.

The lyrics of Rodney Atkins’ 2009 hit “It’s America” ranked Springsteen songs alongside Chevrolet and NASA moon flights as symbols of U.S. patriotism, while Pat Green’s “Feels Just Like It Should” (No. 13, 2006) finds a couple singing “Born To Run” while cruising down the highway in a convertible. And the new Josh Abbott Band album, Small Town Family Dream, currently at No. 5 on Country Albums, contains “I’ll Sing About Mine,” a song that takes issue with the trend, lamenting that songs about “the Dairy Queen, pickup trucks and Springsteen/Make the place I love sound like a bad cartoon.”

Die Menschenrechtsorganisation “Amnesty International” feiert ihr 50-jähriges Jubiläum. Mit Songs von Bob Dylan – der ebenfalls sein 50-jähriges Bühnenjubiläum feiert – wird der Geburtstag geehrt.
Am 24. Januar 2012 erscheint “Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years Of Amnesty International” mit 70 neu aufgenommenen Bob Dylan Songs.
Am 12. Oktober 2011 berichten wir, dass neben Sting und Rosanne Cash auch Bruce Springsteen einen Song beisteuern wird. Leider findet man auf der 4 CD umfassenden Box keine Springsteen Aufnahme. Dafür sprang E Street Band Gitarrist Nils Lofgren in die Bresche und nahm mit Paul Rodgers den Dylan Klassiker “Abandoned Love” aus dem Jahre 1975 auf. Ferner ist auf der ersten CD “Changing of the Guards” von Gaslight Anthem zu finden.

Das Album ist in Deutschland als Import zu haben.

Garry W. Tallent – E Street Band Mitglied seit der ersten Stunde – feiert heute seinen 62. Geburtstag.
Garry Tallent erblickte am 27. Oktober 1949 in Detroit, MI das Licht der Welt. Seine Eltern zogen mit den fünf Kindern wenige Jahre später nach Neptune, NJ. Dort traf er auf “Southside” Johnny Lyon, Vini “Maddog” Lopez und Bruce Springsteen. Garry Tallent spielt seit 1971 mit Bruce Springsteen zusammen und fungiert auch als Studiomusiker und Produzent.
Seine musikalischen Vorbilder sind James Jamerson, Donald “Duck” Dunn und Paul McCartney.
Garry Tallent arbeitete unter anderem mit Steve Forbes, Ian Hunter, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Steve Earl, Solomon Burke, Jim Lauderdale und Sonny Burgess.
Seit 2004 ist er ausserdem festes Mitglied der aus Nashville, TN stammende Tribute/Cover Band “The Long Players”. Die fünfköpfige Musikformation macht es sich zur Aufgabe, Alben bekannter Musikgrössen nachzuspielen.
Zudem war er 1999 Mitbegründer des Musiklabel “D’Ville Records” und führt ein Aufnahmestudio in Whitefish, MO.

Bosstime ist wohl derzeit unumstritten Deutschlands gefragteste Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band. Wer die Band einmal live erlebt hat wird diese Ansicht teilen.

Bosstime wurde im Jahr 2003 gegründet und hat sich zur Aufgabe gemacht Bruce Springsteen, dem “hardest workin’ man in Rock ‘n Roll business”, und seiner legendären E Street Band zu Lebzeiten ein lebendiges, musikalisches Denkmal zu setzen.
Der siebenköpfigen Formation um Frontmann Thomas Heinen geht es darum Bruce‘s “Spirit” und die Begeisterung für seine Musik zu transportieren und diese, in mehrstündigen Live Konzerten mit Konzertbesuchern und anderen Fans zu teilen.

Auch 2011 spielen Bosstime viele Konzerte in ganz Deutschland. Unter anderem am 22. Januar 2011 im “Crowded House” in Oberhausen.
