Anfang Juli 1981 begann der letzte Abschnitt der 140 Shows umfassenden “The River Tour”. Unter anderem trat Bruce Springsteen mit seiner E Street Band sechs Mal in der “Brendan Byrne Arena” in East Rutherford, NJ, sechs Mal in der “Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena”, sowie fünf Mal im “Spectrum” in Philadelphia, PA auf.


Das Spectrum wurde 2009 geschlossen

Heute vor 37 Jahren – am 13. Juli 1981 – begrüsste der “Boss” die knapp 15.000 Zuschauer im “Spectrum” mit “Thunder Road”. Im weiteren Verlauf der knapp 160minütigen Show stimmte die E Street Band ausserdem den Creedence Clearwater Revival Evergreen “Who’ll Stop The Rain” sowie den von Fred Wise und Ben Weisman in den 1960er Jahren komponierten Klassiker “Follow That Dream” an.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, proving you can’t have too much of a good thing, rocked, the Spectrum last night almost off its foundations at the start of a record-breaking, five-night series of concert. “The Boss” doesn’t get any older – he just gets better. At least that was the feeling among the sell-out crowd at the end of Springsteen’s first set, which left the audience dripping with sweat but hot to trot for another few hours of music, which was to come …
