Chris Martin, der Frontmann der britischen Pop-Rock Formation Coldplay, bezeichnete Bruce Sprigsteen in einem Interview mit der NY TIMES als einen seiner Lehrer. Martin sagte, dass „man sich Bruce Springsteen und Bob Dylan Videos ansehen müsse, um ein grosses Rock Album zu machen“.

“I was watching a lot about ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town,’ and a lot about ‘Blonde on Blonde’ and ‘Sgt. Pepper’s’ and all these real albums,” said Mr. Martin, who at 34 still has the glow of a young man amazed by his good fortune.

Darüber hinaus bestätigte der Küstler in einem weiteren Gespräch mit grantland.com, dass er von Springsteens „Darkness on the Edge of Town“ beeinflusst wurde.

Martin explains he’d been “watching a lot about Darkness on the Edge of Town” and other “real albums” in preparation for Coldplay’s latest, Mylo Xyloto; he also calls Springsteen, along with Jagger and Bono, one of his “great teachers.”
