Billboard.com berichtet, dass Bruce Springsteen in den kommenden Monaten eine Anniversary-Box von „Darkness on the Edge of Town“ veröffentlichen wird.

Update: Kein Oscar für Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteens Filmsong „The Wrestler“ wurde nicht für den Oscar nominiert.

Die Jury veröffentlichte vor wenigen Minuten eine Liste mit den Nominierten und gab bekannt, dass nur drei Songs in die engere Auswahl kamen:

  • Down to Earth – aus dem Film „Wall-E“

Die Los Angeles Times schreibt in diesem Zusammenhang:

Bruce Springsteen won at the Academy Awards in 1993 for the song „Streets of Philadelphia“ from the film „Philadelphia.“ And he was nominated two years later for the title song of „Dead Man Walking“.
So how did he not make it into the final race this year? The Oscars‘ Rule Sixteen sets out the criteria for winnowing the list of eligible songs down to the final nominees. Update: „Working on a Dream“ – Livestream ab 19. Januar ’09

Der amerikanische Radiosender NPR bietet ab 19. Januar 2009 das neue Bruce Springsteen Album „Working on a Dream“ per Livestream an.

Fans anxious to get their ears on Bruce Springsteen’s new album will have a chance to hear it eight days before it hits stores.
Springsteen’s newest album „Working on a Dream“ will be streaming on National Public Radio, according to a spokesperson for NPR. The album will be available beginning at midnight on Monday, Jan. 19. It will be available free on the site until the day the album is released — Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The album is Springsteen’s second album in 16 months, a follow-up to his 2007 critically acclaimed release „Magic.“
The stream is part of one of NPR’s newer ventures entitled „Exclusive First Listen.“ The organization has previously provided early looks at albums by Neil Young and Bob Dylan. NPR will have more detailed information about the free stream this Monday at the company’s Web site, npr.org/music.
