Die offizielle Pressemeldung vom 28. Juli 2016:

Companion album to Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography includes 5 unreleased tracks

‘Chapter and Verse,’ the audio companion to Bruce Springsteen’s extraordinary forthcoming autobiography, will be released Sept. 23 on Columbia Records. The career-spanning compilation will be released four days before Simon & Schuster publishes ‘Born to Run.’ Five of the album’s 18 tracks have not been previously released.

Springsteen selected the songs on ‘Chapter and Verse’ to reflect the themes and sections of ‘Born to Run.’ The compilation begins with two tracks from The Castiles, featuring a teenaged Springsteen on guitar and vocals, and ends with the title track from 2012’s ‘Wrecking Ball.’  The collected songs trace Springsteen’s musical history from its earliest days, telling a story that parallels the one in the book.

Recordings from Steel Mill and The Bruce Springsteen Band feature musicians who would go on to play in The E Street Band. Solo demos of “Henry Boy” and “Growin’ Up” were cut in 1972 shortly before Springsteen began recording his debut album, ‘Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.’

‘Chapter and Verse’ will be available as a single CD and double LP, as well as via digital download and streaming. The package will include lyrics and rare photos. ‘Chapter & Verse’ will be available for preorder on Friday, July 29.

‘Chapter and Verse’ song titles:

1. Baby I — The Castiles (recorded May 2, 1966, at Mr. Music, Bricktown, NJ; written by Bruce Springsteen and George Theiss; previously unreleased)
2. You Can’t Judge a Book by the Cover — The Castiles (recorded Sept. 16, 1967, at The Left Foot, Freehold, NJ; written by Willie Dixon; previously unreleased)
3. He’s Guilty (The Judge Song) — Steel Mill (recorded Feb. 22, 1970, at Pacific Recording Studio, San Mateo, CA; previously unreleased)
4. Ballad of Jesse James — The Bruce Springsteen Band (recorded March 14, 1972, at Challenger Eastern Surfboards, Highland, NJ; previously unreleased)
5. Henry Boy (recorded June 1972, at Mediasound Studios, New York, NY; previously unreleased)
6. Growin’ Up (recorded May 3, 1972, at Columbia Records Recordings Studios, New York, NY; previously appeared on ‘Tracks’)
7. 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) (1973, ‘The Wild, The Innocent & the E Street Shuffle’)
8. Born to Run (1975, ‘Born to Run’)

10. The River (1980, ‘The River’)
11. My Father’s House (1982, ‘Nebraska’)

All songs written and performed by Bruce Springsteen except as noted.

Springsteen’s gripping 500-page autobiography, ‘Born to Run,’ will be released internationally Sept. 27, published in hardcover, e-book, and audio editions by Simon & Schuster in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India, as well as other publishers around the world.

In „Born to Run“ lässt der 66jährige Rockstar seine Jugend in Freehold (New Jersey) Revue passieren. Springsteen erinnert sich ausserdem an seine Anfänge als Musiker und den Aufstieg der legendären E Street Band. Der „Simon & Schuster“ Verlag bringt das Buch in den USA, Grossbritannien, Kanada, Australien und Indien auf den Markt.

In Deutschland wird der Tatsachenbericht am 27. September 2016 in der deutschen Übersetzung bei Heyne erscheinen.

Die offizielle Pressemeldung:

Simon & Schuster is proud to announce the world-wide publication of Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography, Born to Run, which will be released internationally on September 27, 2016. The work will be published in hardcover, ebook, and audio editions by Simon & Schuster in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India, and rights have already been sold to publishers in nine countries.
Mr. Springsteen has been privately writing the autobiography over the past seven years. He began work in 2009, after performing with the E Street Band at the Super Bowl’s halftime show.
In Born to Run, Mr. Springsteen describes growing up in Freehold, New Jersey amid the “poetry, danger, and darkness” that fueled his imagination. He vividly recounts his relentless drive to become a musician, his early days as a bar band king in Asbury Park, and the rise of the E Street Band. With disarming candor, he also tells for the first time the story of the personal struggles that inspired his best work, and shows us why the song “Born to Run” reveals more than we previously realized.
“Writing about yourself is a funny business,” Mr. Springsteen notes in his book. “But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this.”
“This is the book we’ve been hoping for,” said Jonathan Karp, publisher of Simon & Schuster. “Readers will see their own lives in Bruce Springsteen’s extraordinary story, just as we recognize ourselves in his songs.” Simon & Schuster acquired Born to Run in an exclusive submission from Mr. Springsteen’s legal representatives, Allen Grubman and Jonathan Ehrlich of the law firm Grubman Shire & Meiselas, P.C.. Simon & Schuster previously published Mr. Springsteen’s illustrated book with Frank Caruso, Outlaw Pete, in 2014.
The international publishers of Born to Run are Editions Albin Michel in France; Mondadori in Italy; Heyne in Germany; Natur & Kultur in Sweden; Spectrum in the Netherlands, Politkens in Denmark; Cappelen Damn in Norway; Otava in Finland; and Penguin Random Spain.

Neues Buch: „The E Street Shuffle: The Glory Days of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band“

Der im Jahre 1960 im englischen Manchester geborene Schriftsteller Clinton Heylin gilt als grosser Bob Dylan Kenner. Unter anderem veröffentlichte Heylin die Standardwerke „Dylan: Behind the Shades“ (1991) sowie „Dylan: Behind the Shades – Take Two“ (2000). Darüber hinaus begeistert der 53jährige mit den Büchern „From the Velvets To The Voidoids – The Birth of American Punk“ (2005) und „Bootleg – The Rise & Fall of the Secret Recording Industry“ (2004).

„The E Street Shuffle: The Glory Days of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band“ umfasst 352 Seiten und wurde im „Viking Verlag“ veröffentlicht.

Buchbeschreibung:

An intimate look at one of rock’s brightest stars and his legendary backing band
Before he was the swaggering, stadium-packing megastar, Bruce Springsteen was a brooding introvert, desperate to strike a balance between his nuanced songwriting and the heft of his backing band. Clinton Heylin’s revelatory biography, E Street Shuffle, chronicles the evolution and influence of Springsteen’s E Street Band as they rose from blue-collar New Jersey to the heights of rock stardom. The band’s players—most notably saxophonist Clarence “Big Man” Clemons, guitarist “Little” Stevie Van Zandt, and drummer Max Weinberg—became Springsteen’s comrades in concert, helping him find the elusive sound and sonic punch that highlighted The Boss’s most creative period, including Darkness on the Edge of Town, Born to Run, and Born in the USA. Fans will also learn another side of Springsteen, one punctuated with his clashes with studio executives seeking a commercially viable, radio-friendly album, and his temporary disbanding of the E Street Band to pursue projects like the eerie acoustic of Nebraska. Coinciding with the forteith anniversary of Springsteen’s debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, drawing on interviews and access to new recordings and shows, Heylin paints a bold picture of The Boss.

„The E Street Shuffle: The Glory Days of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band“ ist auf Amazon.de und im Stonepony.de Fanshop erhältlich.
