Bruce Springsteen wird mit seiner E Street Band am Dienstag Nachmittag (7. Dezember 2010 – gegen 15.00 Uhr Ortszeit) in Asbury Park, NJ auftreten, um einige Fans mit Songs des neuen Albums „The Promise“ zu erfreuen. Das Mini-Konzert im „Carousel House“ wird mitgefilmt und wird in naher Zukunft auf der Homepage des Künstler BruceSpringsteen.net zu sehen sein.

And if you don’t mind braving that kind of weather, we want to give you a chance to be there when Bruce Springsteen does a video shoot on the Jersey Shore next week!

Extra! Extra!
On Tuesday, December 7, Bruce will be convening the E Street Band on the Jersey Shore to play tracks from The Promise for a special future webcast. And unlike the Darkness ’09 film, they don’t want to play to nobody… so we’ve got the chance to send a small number of fans to be extras for the filming.

Bear in mind, this won’t be a concert, exactly — it’s a shoot, with all the stops and starts that usually entails. And it’s likely gonna be a cold, windy December afternoon, not in the cozy confines of previous Shore venues like the Paramount Theatre or Convention Hall. But it’ll also be a unique opportunity to see Bruce and the Band in action and up close, working up performance debuts of songs from The Promise, and to be part of the small crowd in an intimate space when they capture it on film.
We’ll be selecting a handful of fans by random drawing to be part of the audience, each able to bring one guest. To enter the drawing, all you need to do is send us an email (see details below). Please only enter IF:

• You’re able to get yourself and your guest to the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, December 7, in the mid-afternoon.
• You’re sure you can be there — we want to get as many fans in as possible and may not be able to adjust for no-shows.
• You can make it on short notice — all winners may not be notified until late Monday evening.
• You can stand the weather!

If that’s you and you’d like to enter for a chance to be there, please send an email to thepromise@backstreets.com with the following information.

For the subject line, type the name of the musician (a longtime Jackson Browne associate) who played violin on The Promise’s version of „Racing in the Street.“

In the body of the email, include your name and address (as it appears on your picture ID), as well as your cell phone (or other contact number) and preferred email address, for any and all notifications about Tuesday.

Entries must be received by Sunday, December 5, at 2 p.m. ET to be eligible for the drawing. One entry per email address, please. Those selected to attend (plus one guest) will be contacted by email as soon as possible (but again, it could be up to Monday night) with full details. We’ll post a notice on the News page to let you know when all notifications have gone out.

Am 13. Februar 2011 findet im „Staples Center“, Los Angeles, CA die „Grammyverleihung 2011“ statt. Leider hat Bruce Springsteen diesmal keine Chance, eine der begehrten Trophäen zu ergattern. Das aktuelle Album „The Promise“ wurde erst am 16. November veröffentlicht und die Grammy Richtlinien sehen vor, dass nur Musikstücke bzw. Alben nominiert werden können, die zwischen dem 1. September 2009 oder 30. September 2010 veröffentlicht wurden. Theoretisch könnte Springsteen im Jahre 2012 einen Grammy für „The Promise“ erhalten.

Grammy Nomination Process:

Record companies and individuals may submit recordings to be nominated. The entries are entered online and then a physical copy of the product must be sent to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Once a work is entered, reviewing sessions are held by over 150 experts from the recording industry. This is done only to determine whether or not a work is eligible or entered into the proper category for official nomination.
The resulting list is circulated to all NARAS members, each of whom may vote to nominate in the general field (Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist) and in no more than nine out of 30 other fields on their ballots. The five recordings that earn the most votes in each category become the nominees. There may be more than five nominees if there is a tie in the nomination process.
Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are generally invited to screenings, or sent DVDs, of movies nominated for Oscars. In contrast, NARAS members receive no nominated recordings.
After nominees have been determined, final voting ballots are sent to Recording Academy members. They may then vote in the general fields and in no more than eight of the 30 fields. NARAS members are encouraged, but not required, to vote only in their fields of expertise. Ballots are tabulated secretly by the major independent accounting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.[5] Following the tabulation of votes the winners are announced at the Grammy Awards. The recording with the most votes in a category wins and it is possible to have a tie. Winners are presented with the Grammy Award and those who do not win are given a medal for their nomination.
In both voting rounds, Academy members are to vote based upon quality alone. They are not supposed to be influenced by sales, chart performance, personal friendships, regional preferences or company loyalty. The acceptance of gifts is prohibited. Members are urged to vote in a manner that preserves the integrity of the academy.
The eligibility period for the 2011 Grammy Awards is September 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010.

Seit dem 25. November 2010 liegt die „Guitar Dreams“ (Ausgabe 6/2010) in den Zeitungsläden bzw. Kiosken aus. Unter anderem wird ausführlich über die neue Bruce Springsteen Veröffentlichung „The Promise“ berichtet. 1976 lag Bruce Springsteen tatsächlich am Boden – seine Karriere schien am Ende, noch bevor sie richtig begonnen hatte. Aber er zeigte es allen und schuf mit DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN seine vielleicht wichtigste Platte. Bruce Springsteens Presseagentur „Shorefire Media“ teilte in einer kürzlich veröffentlichten Meldung mit, dass das neue Album „The Promise“ nicht nur in Deutschland auf Platz 1 der Charts eingestiegen ist (wir berichteten hier), sondern auch in Schweden, Norwegen und Spanien auf dem ersten Platz zu finden ist. Ausserdem lies „Shorefire Media“ verlauten, dass sich die „Darkness Box“ in den USA hervorragend verkauft und aktuell Platz 27. der Billboard Charts einnimmt.

Bruce Springsteen’s 2-CD Set ‚The Promise‘ Debuts At #16 On The US Billboard Chart And At #1 In Germany, Sweden, Norway, And Spain
Bruce Springsteen’s 6-disc box set ‚The Promise: The Darkness On the Edge Of Town Story‘ became the fastest selling box set of 2010 this past week. It debuted at #27 on the Billboard chart.
His 2-CD set ‚The Promise‘ debuted at #16 on the Billboard chart in the US this week. It also debuted at #1 in Germany, Norway, Spain, and Sweden, #4 in Ireland and the Netherlands, #5 in Denmark and Austria, #7 in the UK, and #9 in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, rave reviews continue to pour in on both releases. As part of a 9.5 (out of 10) review of the box set, Pitchfork Media said, „You will need this… a trove, a vast clearinghouse from a fertile period.“
The Nation Online named the box, „the single greatest thing ever,“ saying, „It’s that good.“
NPR.org exclaimed, „Holy cow… fantastic.“
The 2-CD set has been similarly praised. Entertainment Weekly called ‚The Promise‘ „essential,“ continuing, „unreleased tracks from his ’78 ‚Darkness on the Edge of Town‘ sessions bring bliss to both lifelong fans and new recruits.“
Huffington Post praised the „powerful catchy stuff [on] a great lost Springsteen album“ and Paste gave the set a 9.2 out of 10.
