Die „Tunnel of Love Express Tour 1988“ startete am 25. Februar 1988 im „The Centrum“ in Worchester, MA. Die 67 Shows umfassende Konzertreise führte Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band bis zum August 1988 durch die Vereinigten Staaten, Italien, Frankreich, Holland, Schweden, Irland, England, West- und Ostdeutschland, der Schweiz, Dänemark, Norwegen und Spanien.

Zwischen dem 16. und dem 23. Mai 1988 bestritt Bruce Springsteen mit seiner E Street Band sechs legendäre Gigs im Madison Square Garden in New York City. Die letzte Show vom 23. Mai 1988 ist nun auf Bruce Springsteens Homepage verfügbar.

Während des finalen Auftritts der „Tunnel of Love US Tour“ begrüsste Bruce Springsteen Barbara Carr sowie Manager Jon Landau auf der Bühne. Unter anderem stimmte der „Boss“ im Rahmen des dreistündigen Gigs die selten gespielten Songs „Sweet Soul Music“, „Lonely Teardrops“, „Part Man, Part Monkey“ sowie die Ed Townsend Komposition „For Your Love“ an.

Im September 1979 veranstaltete die gemeinnützige Organisation „Musicians United for Safe Energy“ (MUSE) fünf Benefizkonzerte im Madison Square Garden in New York City. Unter anderem beteiligten sich daran Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Petty, Graham Nash und John Hall.

Weil Bruce Springsteen mit seinem vierten Longplayer „Darkness On The Edge of Town“ Platz 5 der Billboard Charts erreicht hatte und im Grossraum New York auf eine riesige Fangemeinde zurückgreifen konnte, wurde er zu zwei Shows am 21. und 22. September 1979 eingeladen.

Der Titelsong zum anstehenden Erfolgsalbum „The River“ (veröffentlicht am 17. Oktober 1980) wurde beim Auftritt am 21. September 1979 erstmals Live vor Publikum gespielt.

A worthy cause moves Springsteen and the E Street Band to pause recording of their new album to perform at the No Nukes benefit concerts in New York. Though a few tracks were later featured in the resulting live album and film, No Nukes ’79 presents Bruce’s complete sets from September 21 and 22, including the world premiere of “The River”, “Sherry Darling”, “Prove It All Night”, “Thunder Road”, “Detroit Medley”, “Quarter to Three”, “Jungleland”, “Rave On” and “Stay” featuring Jackson Browne, Tom Petty and Rosemary Butler . This release is mixed by Jon Altschiller.

Nach der „Tunnel of Love Express Tour“ und der „HUMAN RIGHTS NOW! TOUR“ im Jahre 1988 genehmigte sich die E Street Band eine elfjährige Auszeit. Ende 1998 reifte die Idee, die Musiker der E Street Band zusammenzutrommeln und eine World Tour in Angriff zu nehmen.

Der Startschuss zur „Reunion Tour 1999 / 2000“ fiel am 10. April 1999 im „Palais St. Jordi“ in Barcelona. Bis zum 1. Juli 2000 spielte die E Street Band weitere 132 Konzerte in Europa und Nordamerika.

Unter anderem trat die E Street Band Ende September 1999 dreimal im „United Center“ in Chicago, IL auf. Bruce Springsteen veröffentlichte nun die letzte Show in der 20.000 Zuschauer fassenden Arena auf seiner offiziellen Homepage.

Zwischen dem 29. Mai 1981 und dem 5. Juni 1981 spielte Bruce Springsteen im Rahmen der „The River Tour“ sechs Gigs in der Londoner „Wembley Arena“.

Am letzten Abend überraschte der „Boss“ die 12.000 Konzertbesucher mit der Livepremiere des Harry Choates Cajun-Klassikers „Jole Blon“. Ferner präsentierte die E Street Band erstmals in Europa die auf „The River“ veröffentlichte Komposition „I Wanna Marry You“.

Seit dem 3. August 2018 ist die Show endlich auf Bruce Springsteens offizeller Downloadseite verfügbar.

Am 10. Januar 2014 kündigte Bruce Springsteens Manager Jon Landau in einem Interview mit dem Fanzine “Backstreets” an, dass möglicherweise bald sämtliche Bruce Springsteen Konzerte als Downloads verfügbar sein werden (wir berichteten hier)

Backstreets berichtete exklusiv am 10. Januar 2014:

Wenige Tage später – am 17. Januar 2014 – wurde bekannt, dass Fans aus aller Welt pünktlich zum Start der „Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Tour 2014“ die Möglichkeit haben werden, USB-Armbänder zu kaufen und Shows aus dem Internet zu laden.
