Gestern Nachmittag fand in der „Atonement Lutheran Church“ in Asbury Park, NJ eine Diskussionsrunde zum Thema „Soul, Rhythm & Blues and the History of Race and Music in Asbury Park“ statt. Mit dabei waren Southside Johnny, Bobby Thomas, Nickey Addeo und Bruce Springsteen. Die Musiker sprachen über ihre Jugendjahren in der Küstenstadt Asbury Park und erzählten über die Musikszene, die sich entlang der Ocean Grove in den 1960er Jahren entwickelte.

Bruce Springsteen war am Samstag Hauptact des alljährlichen „Ranney School Benefit“ im „Stone Pony“, Asbury Park, NJ. Gemeinsam mit Max Weinberg am Schlagzeug, Bobby Bandiera, Tom Morogiello (Gitarren) und Danny Walsh am Saxophon lieferte der „Boss“ eine 27 Songs umfassende Show der Spitzenklasse ab. Der weltbekannte Musikproduzent und Fernsehmoderator Don Kirshner ist tot. Wie ein Freund der Familie mitteilte, starb Kirshner bereits am 17. Januar 2011 in einem Krankenhaus in Boca Raton, FL, wo er wegen einer Infektion behandelt wurde. Don Kirshner hatte viele namhafte Stars wie zum Beispiel Neil Diamond, Connie Francis, Carole King und The Monkees unter Vertrag und war auch zwischen 1973 und 1981 Moderator seiner eigenen ABC-Fernsehshow „Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert“.
In dieser Zeit Jahren verhalf er nicht nur Billy Joel, Prince und Ozzy Osborne zu einer Weltkarriere, sondern präsentiert unter anderem auch Bruce Springsteen und Southside Johnny zum ersten Mal im amerikanischen Fernsehen.

Die amerikanische Songwriterin und langjährige Backround-Sängerin der E Street Band / Seeger Session Band, Lisa Lowell, veröffentlichte vor Kurzem ihr Debütalbum „Beautiful Behavior“. Lisa arbeitet bereits mit Garland Jeffreys, Sheryl Crow, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Gary U.S. Bonds, Willy “Mink” DeVille, Jon Bon Jovi, Stevie Wonder, B.B.King und vielen anderen international anerkannten Künstlern zusammen. Seit 1990 ist sie festes Bestandteil der E Street Band und wirkte auf diversen Springsteen Veröffentlichungen mit.
An „Beautiful Behavior“ beteiligten sich neben Soozie Tyrell und Patti Scialfa auch Bruce Springsteen.

Lisa Lowell über „Beautiful Behavior“
For two years now, Lisa has been working on a self-penned about to be released “record” (she still prefers to call them that). “Beautiful Behavior” is a group of compositions she was going to release on Gaff Music, the late Scott Beal’s label. She has recorded and is releasing it independently in the US and Europe. Her musicianly team boasts a spectacular cast of New York studio performers with:

Throughout the ‘90s, Lisa was a regular at the Bottom Line, NYC and various concerts and shows as a “Busterier” background vocalist/dancer with New York Doll’s luminary David Johansen/aka Buster Poindexter’s „Banshees of Blue“ and „Spanish Rocket Ship“ bands. She co-arranged and appeared on his hit song “Hot, Hot, Hot” with cronies Patti and Soozie.
