Clarence Clemons erlitt am 12. Juni 2011 einen schweren Schlaganfall (wir berichteten hier). Nachdem sich Bruce Springsteen auf seiner offiziellen Homepage am 15. Juni zu Wort meldete (wir berichteten hier), hat auch Nils Lofgren dem „Big Man“ beste Genesungswünsche übermittelt.

Auf Nils Lofgrens Homepage war folgendes zu lesen:

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all in good health and spirits. As many of you know, Clarence Clemons, my beloved friend and bandmate of many years has suffered a stroke and we ask for all your continued prayers, good thoughts and wishes for Clarence and his family.
Clarence and I have stood side by side through countless challenges and adventures, on stage and off. I love and cherish that friendship and journey dearly. My wife Amy and I ask all of you to join us in sending positive thoughts and prayers out to Clarence and his wife and family, as he fights to recover.

Unterdessen wurde bekannt, dass sich Clarence Clemons „Vitalwerte verbessert“ haben. Trotzdem ist sein „Zustand immer noch ernst“.

As music fans across the Jersey Shore pray for Clarence Clemons, the legendary saxophone player for the E Street Band remains in stable condition in a Florida hospital after suffering a stroke over the weekend.
Though his vital signs have improved, according to reports, Clemons’ condition is still serious.

Am Dienstag (7. Juni 2011) wurde in Amerika und England die Blu-Ray „Spectacle: Elvis Costello with … (Season 2)“ veröffentlicht. Auf der Blu Ray findet man sieben Folgen der TV-Show, die in Amerika auf dem „Sundance Channel“ ausgestrahlt wurden.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
Am 20. Mai 2011 besuchte Bruce Springsteen gemeinsam mit Tochter Jessica und Ehefrau Patti Scialfa die „Winsor Horse Show“ (wir berichteten hier). Anschliessend flog Familie Springsteen nach Belgien, wo ein weiteres Internationales Pferderennen stattfand.
Möglicherweise wird der „Boss“ bald nach Deutschland kommen, denn vom 15. bis 18. Juni macht die „European Young Rider & Junior Rider Tour“ in 49170 Hagen (am Teutoburger Wald) Station.

E Street Band Saxophonist Clarence Clemons trat am Mittwoch (25. Mai 2011) mit Lady Gaga beim Finale der Fernseh-Casting-Show „American Idol“ auf. Der „Big Man“ unterstützte Lady Gaga beim Song „Edge of Glory“.

MAX WEINBERG
Max Weinberg ist mit seiner „Big Band“ immer noch auf Tour. Am 3. Juni spielt der ehemalige Bandlead der Conan O’Brien Showband anlässlich des „Blues Fest“ in London (wir berichteten hier).

As the long-time drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band (1974-1989) Max Weinberg has performed for millions of people around the world and been featured at many prestigious events, including the 1993 and 1997 Presidential Inauguration Galas, the 1995 Grammy Awards and the 1995 Gala Concert for the dedication of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, where he rejoined his former group. Called „the rhythmic backbone of the E Street Band,“ by Robert Palmer of The New York Times, Weinberg was invited to perform in the East Room of the White House in December 1996 and served as the music director for Comic Relief 8 starring Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Cited by the „Playboy“Pop and Jazz Music Poll (1985) and the „Rolling Stone“ Critics Poll (1986) as Best Drummer, Weinberg has performed or recorded with some of contemporary music’s biggest names including Sting, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Barbra Streisand, Ringo Starr, Natalie Merchant, Pete Townshend of the Who and Meatloaf. Weinberg’s performances on the classic rock albums „Born in the U.S.A.“ by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and „Bat Out of Hell“ by Meatloaf earned him the distinction of having played on the first and second largest selling albums in rock history.
In 2009 Max debuted his ‘Big Band’ in the US, a bold, swinging 15 piece band that continues the traditions established by Max’s musical heroes, including Frank Sinatra, Count Basie and Buddy Rich.

NILS LOFGREN
Auch Nils Lofgren ist nicht untätig und tourt mit seinem Solo-Programm durch Nordamerika. Am 6. Mai 2011 spielte der E Street Band Gitarrist im legendären Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ. Natürlich gab er auch einen Springsteen Song zum Besten:

E Street Band Gitarrist Nils Lofgren hat sich am vergangenen Mittwoch an einer Spendengala in Washington, DC beteiligt. Mit anderen Künstlern spielte er einige Songs und sammelte insgesamt 35.000 US$, die der „Esiason Foundation“ zu Gute kommen wird. Besagte Stiftung wurde vom ehemaligen NFL Quarterback Norman „Boomer“ Esiason im Jahre 1993 gegründet und setzt sich für Mukoviszidose Erkrankte ein.

Während Clarence Clemons mit Lady Gaga arbeitet und eine Dokumentation vorbereitet (wir berichteten hier), hat Nils Lofgren ein neues Solo Projekt in Angriff genommen. Ausserdem wird der E Street Band Gitarrist in Kürze auf Tour gehen.

Auf seiner offiziellen Homepage lies der Künstler folgendes verlauten:

We just posted a few acoustic duo dates in early May. Greg Varlotta will be with me again and we look forward to singing, playing and maybe a little of that dancing for you. We hope to continue playing on and off through the summer and we are looking at other areas to get to. We’ll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, I’ve started recording my next solo album and I’m hoping to have it available by Fall on the website. It’s a bit of a slow process for me, however, I’m excited about how the overall batch of songs will sound together once I complete the project.

In einem Interview mit der „New York Post“ bestätigte Max Weinberg, dass ein neues Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Album sowie eine Tour nicht mehr lange auf sich warten lassen werden:
