„A Concert for Autism Speaks“ mit Bruce Springsteen

Autismus ist eine angeborene Wahrnehmungs- und Informationsverarbeitungsstörung des Gehirns, die sich schon im frühen Kindesalter bemerkbar macht. In den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika leidet jedes 150. Kind an dieser unheilbaren Krankheit.

NEW YORK, N.Y. (September 10, 2009) – Jerry Seinfeld will headline a star-studded night of comedy and music at the fifth Concert for Autism Speaks on November 17 at Carnegie Hall, in New York City. The evening will include a special appearance by Bruce Springsteen. The unprecedented event, emceed by NBC News‘ Meet the Press David Gregory, will help increase awareness about autism and raise funds to benefit the work of Autism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization.
Proceeds from A Concert for Autism Speaks will go toward funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism, which is now diagnosed in one in every 150 American children. Since its founding in 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, the grandparents of a child with autism, Autism Speaks has committed more than $131 million to scientific research.
Jamie Foxx, Ellen DeGeneres, Tina Fey, Conan O’Brien, Seth Rogen, Martha Stewart, Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira, Glenn Close, Celine Dion, Will Ferrell, Edie Falco, Troy Aikman, and Harry Smith are among the committee members supporting this one-of-a-kind event.
Sir Elton John, Senator Al Franken, Donald and Melania Trump, Ambassador Nassir Abdul Aziz al Nasser and Mrs. Muna Rihani Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, and Ernie and Liezl Els are among those serving as the evening’s honorary Co-Chairs.

Greetings from Buffalo, NY

Bruce Springsteen hat während der „Working on a Dream Tour 2009“ einige seiner Studioalben live vor Publikum performt. Die Zuschauer der letzten Show in Buffalo, NY am 22. November ’09 dürfen sich auf ein besonderes Schmankerl freuen. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band spielen sämtliche Songs des 1973er Debutalbums „Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ“. Unter anderem wurde „The Angel“ erst ein einziges Mal – am 22.04.1996 in der „Royal Albert Hall“, London – gespielt.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform the album Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. during their concert in Buffalo, NY, on November 22, the final date of their 2009 ‚Working on a Dream‘ tour. Released in January, 1973, ‚Greetings‘ marked Springsteen’s debut as a recording artist; it is the first time this album will be performed in its entirety. Bruce and the band have performed the albums ‚The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle‘, ‚Born to Run‘, ‚Darkness on the Edge of Town‘, ‚The River‘ and ‚Born in the USA‘ during their fall tour.

Santa Claus ist zurück!
Da sich die Tour langsam ihrem Ende zuneigt und die Weihnachtszeit vor der Türe steht, hat Bruce Springsteen kurzerhand seinen Weihnachtshit „Santa Claus is coming to Town“ ausgepackt. Ausserdem kamen die Zuschauer im Bradley Center, Milwaukee, WI in den Genuss, die Tourpremiere von „Living Proof“ mitzuerleben.

13.11.2009 – Palace At Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, MI – Setlist

Bruce Springsteen begrüsste die 23.000 Zuschauer im Palace zu Auburn Hills, MI mit den Worten „Hello Ohio“. Auch bei „Working on a Dream“ passierte ihm der Fauxpas. Wenig später wurde er von E Street Band Gitarrist aufgeklärt, dass Auburn Hills nicht in Ohio, sondern im Staate Michigan liegt. Der ‚Boss‘ entschuldigte sich und stellte klar, dass er auf diesen „Alptraum“ 40 Jahre gewartet habe.

You put on another damn good show, with a damn good crowd, and once again Cleveland rocks! I took a road trip out here to see the show and to see the Springsteen exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Overall a fine night of Bruce and the E Street Band with some great request songs and he played an Elvis song again in the encores.
