Zwischen dem 27. September 1985 und dem 2. Oktober 1985 trat Bruce Springsteen mit der E Street Band 4 Mal im ausverkauften „Memorial Coliseum“ in Los Angeles, CA auf. Mit diesen vier Auftritten ging die 156 Konzerte umfassende „Born in the USA World Tour“ zu Ende.

331.892 Menschen erlebten im September/Oktober 1985 die wohl herausragensten Konzerte der siebzehnmonatigen „Born in the USA“ Welttournee, die Bruce Springsteen im Juni 1985 auch für zwei Shows nach Deutschland führte (wir berichteten hier).

Die Auftritte im „Memorial Coliseum“ wurden professionell mitgeschnitten und acht Songs landeten letztendlich auf der 5 LP-Box „Live 1975 -1985“, die am 10. November 1986 veröffentlicht wurde. Im Vorfeld orderten die Geschäfte knapp 1,5 Millionen Exemplare und sorgten dafür, dass die „Live Box“ eine Woche später auf Platz 1 der „Billboard Charts“ stand (wir berichteten hier).

“Live 1975 – 1985″ ist nach der Garth Brooks Veröffentlichung „Double Live“ aus dem Jahre 1998 das meistverkaufte Live Album aller Zeiten. Es wird angenommen, dass seit 1986 ca. 13 Millionen Exemplare der „Bruce Springsteen Live 1975 – 1985“ Box weltweit verkauft wurden. Die „Recording Industry Association of America“ (RIAA) bedachte das Live Album am Jahresende 1986 mit 13 Platinauszeichnungen.

Die „Born in the USA“ Tour begann am 29. Juni 1984 und führte Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band bis zum 2. Oktober 1985 auch nach Australien, Asien und Europa. Doch erst ab dem 5. August 1985 war es Bruce Springsteen möglich, in den grossen Sportstadien der nordamerikanischen Metropolen aufzutreten. Die „Born in the USA Stadium Tour 1985“ umfasste 28 Konzerte an der amerikanischen Ostküste, der Westküste sowie im Mittleren Westen. Zu den Shows kamen knapp 2 Millionen Besucher.

Die „Born in the USA Tour“ spielte insgesamt 85 Millionen Dollar ein und steht auf Platz 5 der „Highest-Grossing Tours“ der 1980er Jahre. Erfolgreicher waren nur Pink Floyd („A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour“ 1987 – 1989), Michael Jackson („Bad Tour“ 1987 – 1989), The Rolling Stones („Steel Wheels Tour“ 1989 – 1990) sowie David Bowie („Glass Spider Tour“ 1987).

Am 16. April 2015 veröffentlichte die Internetplattform „Wikileaks“ Dokumente und E Mails des sogenannten „Sony Hack“.

Vor fünf Monaten hatten Unbekannte weit über 200.000 Dokumente von Servern des japanischen Medienkonzerns gestohlen. Die ermittelnden Behörden gehen davon aus, dass die Hacker – die sich „Guardians of Peace“ nennen – aus Nordkorea stammen.

Aus den Unterlagen geht unter anderem hervor, dass Bruce Springsteen einen neuen Vertrag mit SONY geschlossen hat. Die neue Vereinbarung gilt bis zum Jahr 2027 und soll Bruce Springsteen Einnahmen in Höhe von 72 Millionen Dollar garantieren.

Bruce Springsteen soll sich im Gegenzug verpflichtet haben, in diesem Zeitraum 13 Alben zu veröffentlichen. Gerüchten zufolge soll es sich hierbei um 4 Studioalben, 5 Live-Alben sowie Box-Sets zu den Erfolgsalben „Born in the USA“, „The River“ und „Nebraska“ handeln.

Der bekannte amerikanische TV- und Radiomoderator Glenn Beck bezeichnete Bruce Springsteens Song „Born in the USA“ als unpatriotisch und antiamerikanisch.

NJ.com berichtet in diesem Zusammenhang:

The conservative TV host said that many people are filled with patriotic pride when they hear the song on Fourth of July and then „find out that Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. is anti-American.“ Beck then grimly read the lyrics for the song — which chronicles a working class man sent to Vietnam, has a friend who dies in the war, then comes home and struggles to find work — and suggests the song is propaganda, the report said. – Quelle
