Die „River Tour“ führte Bruce Springsteen, Roy Bittan, Clarence Clemons, Danny Federici, Garry Tallent, Steven Van Zandt und Max Weinberg im April 1981 erstmals für vier Konzerte nach Deutschland. Der „Boss“ begeisterte vor mittlerweile 37 Jahren die Fans in Hamburg (Kongresshalle), Berlin (ICC), Frankfurt (Festhalle) und München (Olympiahalle).

Das erste Konzert auf europäischem Boden nach 1975 spielte Bruce Springsteen am Abend des 7. April 1981 in der ausverkauften Kongresshalle in Hamburg.

Bei dieser Show feierten „Prove It All Night“, „Out In The Street“, „Darkness On The Edge Of Town“, „Independence Day“, „Who’ll Stop The Rain“, „Two Hearts“, „The Promised Land“, „The River“, „Badlands“, „Cadillac Ranch“, „Sherry Darling“, „Hungry Heart“, „Fire“, „You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch)“, „Wreck On The Highway“, „Racing In The Street“, „Ramrod“ sowie das Status Quo Cover „Rockin‘ All Over The World“ ihre Europapremieren.

Zwei Tage später war die E Street Band im „Internationalen Congress Centrum“ Berlin zu Gast. Bruce Springsteen eröffnete die Show erstmals mit „Factory“ und erfreute die knapp 10.000 Zuschauer ausserdem mit den Europapremieren von „Factory“ und dem Woody Guthrie Klassiker „This Land Is Your Land“.

Nach einem Konzert im „Hallen Stadion“, Zürich, kehrte Bruce Springsteen am 14. April 1981 nach Deutschland zurück, um eines der besten Konzerte der River Tour zu spielen. Auch die Frankfurter Festhalle war restlos ausverkauft.

Während des Abends feierten die Songs „This Hard Land“ sowie „10th Avenue Freeze Out“ ihre Tourpremieren. Darüber hinaus war dieses Konzert die letzte Show mit Danny Federici.

The last U.S. tour stop of 2007 would prove to be Danny Federici’s final show as a full-time member of the E Street Band. Boston ’07 is a fitting farewell to Phantom Dan and catches Bruce and the band firing on all cylinders at the height of the Magic tour. Rich with core album tracks including “Radio Nowhere,” “Gypsy Biker,” “Livin’ In The Future” and “Girls In Their Summer Clothes,” Boston also features the tour debuts of “This Hard Land” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” with Peter Wolf.

Ursprünglich sollte die E Street Band am 10. April 2016 im „Coliseum“ in Greensboro, NC auftreten. Weil in North Carolina der sogenannte „Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act“ erlassen wurde, entschlossen sich die Musiker, das Konzert ersatzlos zu streichen.

Die Verordnung beschränkt nämlich den gesetzlichen Schutz für homo- und bisexuelle Menschen sowie Transgender-Personen. In diesem Zusammenhang veröffentlichte Bruce Springsteen folgende Stellungnahme:

… North Carolina has just passed HB2, which the media are referring to as the “bathroom” law. HB2 — known officially as the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act — dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use. Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace …

Zwei Tage später – am 12. April 2016 – wurde die „The River Tour 2016“ in Columbus, OH fortgesetzt. Während der 32. Show der “River Tour” performte Bruce Springsteen 35 Songs. Darunter auch das Outtake “I Wanna Be With You”. Besagter Song feierte am 27. Februar 2016 in der “Blue Cross Arena” in Rochester, NY seine Weltpremiere und wurde nun zum zweiten Mal vorgetragen.

Ferner holte der “Boss” während der auf “Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ” im Jahre 1973 veröffentlichten Komposition “Growin’ Up” zwei Jugendliche auf die Bühne, die sich als Background Sänger versuchen durften. Nach 3 Stunden und 34 Minuten endete die Show mit dem Isley Brothers Klassiker “Shout”.

Der Startschuss zur „Reunion Tour 1999 / 2000“ fiel am 10. April 1999 im „Palais St. Jordi“ in Barcelona. Bis zum 1. Juli 2000 spielte die E Street Band weitere 132 Konzerte in Europa und Nordamerika. Selbstverständlich war Bruce Springsteen anlässlich der „Reunion Tour“ auch in Deutschland zu Gast. Zwischen dem 13. April 1999 und dem 17. Juni 1999 trat er in Bremen, Offenbach, Leipzig, Berlin, Regensburg, Köln und München auf.

Heute vor 19 Jahren – am 11. April 1999 – stand das zweite Konzert im „Palau Sant Jordi“ in Barcelona auf dem Plan. Die E Street Band verwöhnte die 18.000 Zuschauer mit selten gespielten Songs. Unter anderem stimmte Bruce Springsteen die Songs „Rendezvous“ sowie „Brothers Under The Bridge“ an.

Letztgenannte Komposition wurde erstmals am 16. Dezember 1995 im Rahmen der „Ghost of Tom Joad Acoustic Tour“ im „Orpheum Theatre“ in Boston, MA Live vor Publikum präsentiert.

Erst 1998 wurde „Brothers Under The Bridge“ auf der Songsammlung „Tracks“ veröffentlicht.

Die „Born in the USA Tour“ führte Bruce Springsteen und die E Street Band im April 1985 nicht nur nach Australien, sondern auch für 8 Konzerte nach Japan.

Die erste Show fand heute vor 33 Jahren – am 10. April 1985 – in der „Yoyogi“ Mehrzweckhalle in Tokio statt. Bruce Springsteen performte vor knapp 6.000 frenetisch feiernden Fans sämtliche Hits seines Erfolgsalbums „Born in the USA“.

Die Zeitung „Pacific Stars and Stripes“ schrieb am 21. April 1985 folgendes:

„Last week, for five shows at the Yoyogi Olympic Pool in Tokyo, Japanese fans got their first taste of Springsteen in person and witnessed the energy that makes his concerts the most exciting around. Even his critics who don’t go in for his unpolished voice admit he’s an electrifying performer, and it’s no secret why. He sings and talks to his fans as though they grew up together in Asbury Park.“

Bis zum 23. April 1985 spielte die E Street Band weitere sieben Gigs in Tokio, Kyoto und Osaka. Danach gönnte sich die Band bis zum Juni 1985 eine kleine Auszeit, um danach in den grössten Stadien in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten aufzutreten.
