Nach 47 Shows in Nordamerika und 28 Auftritten in Europa, geht am heutigen Abend die „The River Tour 2016“ mit einem Konzert im „Gillette Stadium“ in Foxborough, MA zu Ende.

Highlights der diesjährigen Tournee waren unter anderem die Konzerte in Los Angeles, CA (15. März 2016, 17. März 2016 und 19. März 2016), in Brooklyn, NY (23. April 2016 und 25. April 2016), die Auftritte in East Rutherford, NJ am 23. August 2016, 25. August 2016 und 30. August 2016 sowie die grossen Stadionshows in Barcelona (14. Mai 2016), Dublin (27. Mai 2016 und 29. Mai 2016), Göteburg (25. Juni 2016 und 27. Juni 2016), Mailand (3. Juli 2016 und 5. Juli 2016) sowie in München (17. Juni 2016) und der bundesdeutschen Hauptstadt Berlin (19. Juni 2016).

Der „Bathroom Bill“ Skandal:
Aus Protest gegen ein Gesetz zur Toilettenbenutzung durch Transgender hat Bruce Springsteen ein Konzert in Greensboro, NC kurzfristig abgesagt. Weil in North Carolina die Rechte von homo- und bisexuellen Menschen sowie Transgender durch das kurz zuvor verabschiedete Gesetz „Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act“ ausgehebelt werden sollten, entschlossen sich die Musiker der E Street Band, nicht in North Carolina aufzutreten.

A statement from Bruce Springsteen on North Carolina
As you, my fans, know I’m scheduled to play in Greensboro, North Carolina this Sunday. As we also know, North Carolina has just passed HB2, which the media are referring to as the “bathroom” law. HB2 — known officially as the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act — dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use. Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace. No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress. Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments. Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters. As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th. Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them. It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards.


Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run

Die Zukunft:
Am 27. September 2016 erscheint die Bruce Springsteen Autobiografie „Born to Run“. Das 672 Seiten umfassende Werk wird mit dem Album „Chapter and Verse“ begleitet (wir berichteten hier).

Darüber hinaus stellte Bruce Springsteens Manager Jon Landau für das kommende Jahr ein Soloprojekt in Aussicht.

Next up for Springsteen is a solo album, which Landau calls “a very different kind of record” from Springsteen. As for a release date or supporting tour, “it’s premature to say much about it,” Landau says. “It’s a wonderful record, and we’ll see how the next year unfolds“ … Landau did provide a little insight into Springsteen’s creative direction. “All I can say is that there is a solo record — and when I say solo record, I’m not talking about an acoustic record,” he says. “It is, in fact, a very expansive record, a very rich record. It’s one of Bruce’s very creative efforts. Stay tuned, and we’ll see exactly how that shapes up next year.” / Quelle

Zudem wird die E Street Band bereits im Januar 2017 auf die Bühne zurückkehren und mehrere Shows in Australien und Neuseeland spielen (wir berichteten hier).


Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA

Das „Gillette Stadium“ ist ein bis zu 68.000 Zuschauer fassendes Sportstadion in Foxborough, MA. Das im Jahre 2002 eröffnete Stadion wird hauptsächlich für Fussball- und American Football Spiele genutzt. Das NFL Team „New England Patriots“ sowie das MLS Fussballteam der „New England Revolution“ tragen im „Gillette Stadion“ ihre Heimspiele aus.

Bruce Springsteen performte bisher vier Mal in dieser Arena. Seine Live-Premiere im „Gillette Stadium“ feierte er am 1. August 2003. Am 2. August 2003 (The Rising Tour), am 2. August 2008 (Magic Tour) und am 18. August 2012 (Wrecking Ball Tour) folgten drei weitere Konzerte.

Erneut standen die Musiker der E Street Band über 4 Stunden auf der Bühne und begeisterten die 51.000 Fans mit einem legendären Rock’n Roll Marathon. Den Anfang machte wie schon bei den Konzerten zuvor der auf „The Wild, the Innocent and the E-Street Shuffle“ im Jahre 1973 veröffentlichte Song „New York City Serenade“. Dabei wurde die E Street Band von den Streichern Sam Bardfeld, Joe Deninzon, Mazz Swift, Sara Caswell, Todd Reynolds, Joyce Hammon, Rachel Golub und Jamey Choi begleitet.

Bruce Springsteen stimmte im Anschluss viele Klassiker aus den 1970er Jahren an und präsentierte ausserdem selten gespielte Songs wie „Light of Day“, „Radio Nowhere“, „Long Walk Home“ sowie die Cover Songs „Boom Boom“ (John Lee Hooker, 1961) und „Rockin‘ All Over The World“ (Status Quo, 1977).

Die Fans feierten ausgelassen und bekamen während des 243minütigen Auftritts 33 Songs zu hören. Kurz vor Mitternacht begrüsste Bruce Springsteen den in Boston, MA beheimateten Musiker Peter Wolf (J. Geils Band), um den Isley Brothers Evergreen „Shout“ zum Besten zu geben.

Danach endete die 75. Show der „The River Tour 2016“ mit „Rockin‘ All Over The World“ und „Bobby Jean“.
